It is 1665, during the Great Plague of London in Mr. and Mrs. Snelgrave’s aristocratic house. All of their servants have died, and the couple indefinitely awaits an end to the quarantine imposed by Kabe, their ill-mannered guard. In the middle of the night two intruders, Morse, a death-obsessed twelve-year-old, and Bunce, a sailor with a wound that never heals, break into the house, guaranteeing the Snelgraves and their visitors one more month of quarantine. Bringing together elements of comedy and tragedy, One Flea Spare is an exploration of the human psyche in a society that is overhauled by disaster.

Hamlet
The First Quarto

By William Shakespeare

Where: The Martel Theater

The rarely produced version of Shakespeare’s most famous play, the First Quarto is the earliest edition of the Hamlet text.  Printed in 1603 and re-discovered in 1823 the First Quarto presents a shorter, more quickly-paced version of Hamlet.  While the play still follows the classic story of a young prince seeking vengeance for his murdered father, it does so with more concise dialogue, different character names, and unique stage directions.  The result is a moving and exciting, hilarious and tragic piece of theater.  It is, in other words, Hamlet, with a twist.

Homebody/Kabul

Sunday Matinee - May 2 at 2:00 pm
Where: The Powerhouse Theater

Note: Open to the campus community only due to limited seating.  Not open to the public.

"The Homebody, a garrulous and overwhelmingly literate housewife, dives off of the 'culpable shore' of her London kitchen to search for home and identity among the ruins of Taliban-run Afghanistan. Her grief-stricken family pursues her, only to find themselves tangled in the inescapable struggle between the personal and political, the public and private, identity and family, confusion and understanding, and sorrow and hope."

This production was funded, in part, with a grant from the E.J. Safirstein ‘83 Memorial Fund
