Paul O'Connor, Technical Director
Paul O’Connor joined the drama dept staff as technical director in 2000. Every year he oversees the construction of scenery and props in both experimental theater spaces - approximately 6 to 8 productions a year. He occasionally designs scenery as well, notably Into The Woods and Glass Menagerie. A large part of Paul’s job is involving students in the creation of each production, and his crew is one of the most coveted work-study positions on campus. Paul’s interest beyond Vassar is varied and many - carpenter, artist, designer and all around indispensable handyman. Prior to his work at Vassar he has worked as a special effects designer, a scenic artist on Broadway productions at Costume Armour and was the Director of the Theater program at Oakwood School from 1991 to 2000.
